CCC 1213 – Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua<\/em>), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Baptisms are held once a month – on Second Saturdays at 10.00 am. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. Requirements<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Register at least 2 months before baptism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Call the parish office (514 365-2830) to set a date for baptism<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. One of the parents and the godparents must be Catholic (the baptism and confirmation certificates are a must) – Godparent must be at least 16 years of age be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist and who leads a life of faith and be willing and able to help the child grow in the Catholic faith.  If two godparents are selected, one must be male and one must be female.  The maximum number of godparents is two.  A baptized non-Catholic<\/u><\/strong> may not be a godparent but may act as a Christian Witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. An obligatory preparation meeting for the parents and the godparents is held once a month in our church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C. The Day of baptism<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. More than one child can be baptized during the same ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Languages used in our church for baptism: Italian, English.
